As Safari Club International introduced Tom Ridge as the recipient of the Conservationist Award, there was also a quick rundown on the conservationist achievements of the sculptor of the bronze award, Doug Eck. Ridge, graciously accepting after listening to this intro, joked that perhaps the award should have gone to Doug! Ridge is a Vietnam hero, a former Congressman and longtime political ally of the Bush family, and was recently appointed by George W. Bush to head the new Department of Homeland Security.
